News: Ustream! Yes!! Tonight! I don't know about the rest of you but it's been a heckuva ride this summer!
Sohmer and I have been on the road almost every weekend this summer. If it wasn't a convention it was a family obligation of one flavour or another or simply trying to squeeze in some quality family time before we rushed off to another show. I can't thank all those who trekked out to see us this summer. You all rock so hard! Old readers and new all make the shows worth the effort!
Also our Blind Ferret team - Becker, McCahan, Moss, and Randy, keeping us organized and on schedule to make it around, while doing their best to divest you of your money.
I know in a week or so, I'll be champing at the bit for our next round of conventions in October, but in the meantime I get to sleep in my own bed, eat in my own home and work my buns off trying to rebuild a buffer! I also get to resume my weekly Ustreams!! That's right, tonight I'll be back on those wacky intertubez drawing, playing some music and hopefully, sharing stories and art with all of you. If you find yourself with some free time tonight between 8pm and midnight I hope you'll drop in and join the chat stream. http://tinyurl.com/9eukhm
Tonight I've got a bunch of my sketches from the conventions to share and more than a few ideas to draw - from pretty ladies to goofy thoughts. Disco wookiee anyone?
Later!

PS: Don't forget we've got a sale going on in the LICD store for the next week!

Why can't I quit you?
Happy Humpday the 13th! And just for you, here is a comic. The first in a while, if you're counting. I have been super busy and stuff, but I need to get good at drawing. I have a big top secret project coming up that involves drawing cartoon characters and I was rusty so I thought the best way to warm up the ol guns was with MONKEYS. So here you are. Maybe more will come soon? You'll have to check back and see!

Troy!! Guest Strip: Josh Welling
My old pal Josh Welling sent me this because I'm a bum and have no time for comics when I'm makin movies. He makes some of my favorite Muffin Time strips. You can see more of his stuff at Frozen Bagel Warfare.

Ryan Estrada Day 2008

Bryan! - 2008-09-17 01:53:53
Ryan Estrada Day 2008
Hi!!! My good friend Ryan Estrada did a comic for you fine folks today! He was so angry that I hadn't made a comic in a while that he made one for me to show the progress I have made in the past or something, I don't know. He is the king of guest strips and you may notice he has done some others for your favorite comic at one point or another. Maybe there's even one on your favorite comic today! Who knows, go check.
An update on me: I'm in film school and been busy. I have been thinking about comics though, so don't worry. I haven't given up quite yet. I also graduated from animation school since we last spoke and kissed a girl. I lead such an exciting life. Until next time! ta ta.

Invisible Friend

Bryan! - 2008-05-01 23:56:38
BAD NEWS GUYS
Most people don't know this, but I am a Space Adventurer on the weekends. You can't tell though since I'm invisible when I am space adventuring.
I am currently working on a short animated film for school, so this will be the last comic up here for a little bit. The film is taking up way too much time and I don't have much time to draw or write the comic until it's done. The good news is that my film is about 3/4 of the way done and I'm not completely unhappy with it. The better news is that you won't have a comic for a while (this is only better news if you hate my comic). So until I am back, you should try to figure out why nipples are the colors they are. See you soon.

*ahem* Wild stallions? Or WYLD STALLYNS?!
... sorry.
I didn't have room in this strip to show everythng that happened. It's supposed to be a ripoff (or an homage, if you prefer) to a scene in Van Helsing where Karl the Crazy Friar demonstrates a liquid explosive, but it's impossible here to tell what's going on.
I imagine some tiny claws are rather deeply embedded in Asher's arm.
I have no idea what it is Jacques thinks he's made here. Clearly, it's something that explodes, but his laundry probably does that.
Everybody seems to love how Asher and Kitty have the same expression in the last panel. I did that throughout this little sequence. It amused me.
When I wrote these, I'd recently read a book on the whole 'cold fusion' debacle. Now, as some of you know, I actually attempted to do a physics degree once. The physics professors were, on the whole, no more worthy of respect than the history ones, and there was one I particularly disliked. I was terribly amused to find his name as a cold fusion supporter in this book... and it wasn't as if his name were John Smith, either, so I'm pretty sure it was, in fact, him.
The professor I mentioned the other day (the stoner) also told me to my face not to bother applying to grad school because I wouldn't get in. A year later, attending one of the top two graduate programs in Canada, I mentioned this to a prof I'd been doing part-time work for. She immediately guessed the guy's name (and he wasn't John Smith, either), and when I asked how she knew, she replied that he was "a dipshit".
Professors: not as awesome as 50's monster movies would have you believe.
And Asher realizes that the only person capable of hearing him has been and gone and concluded that the signal was nothing. Poor Asher.
Very interesting Latin lesson in the comments to this strip, btw.

Scenes From A Multiverse by Jon Rosenberg Scenes From A Multiverse is my new daily science-faction webcomic about what it's like to live in an ordinary multiverse. Each day, Monday through Friday, we'll visit another location somewhere in an ordinary, everyday multiverse and see how folks there live and play. Each Friday, you and your fellow readers get to vote on which of the week's destinations you'd like to revisit the following week in our Multiverse Showdown! Think of it as a webcomic reality show with a smidgen more unreality than reality. Please enjoy the new strip while work continues on the new Goats website and relaunch....
Last Chance For Signed Books If you want a signed copy of Showcase Showdown or any of the other Goats books, tomorrow is your last chance! At 2pm Wednesday we'll be taking the signed option down so I can get started inscribing all those books for you. Thanks to everyone who preordered, your support means the world to me.
Mustache Rides Shirt + Goats Update Two quick bits of info and then back to work for me. First up, a lot of people have been emailing me, worried that they will not be seeing Goats again. Not true! Goats is coming back, probably in July (actual date TBD). I will be putting out one full-page, 3-row comic per week until the story is finished. This will probably take about two years (~100 comics) and will take us to the end of the theoretical Book 5 and finish the story. Secondly, I have a new shirt out! it is called Mustache Rides: The Shirt and it...
I've Made A Huge Mistake EDIT: Thank you all for your kind words of support! I am really okay, I will figure out a plan soon. If you want to be alerted when there is news concerning the comic's fate, you can follow me on twitter or friend me on facebook. I'll be sure to update here as well but I'll be posting to twitter and facebook more frequently. I've gone through fifty drafts of this post in my head (and now on screen) over the last couple of days, and they're all terrible. Full of blame, self-blame, desperate attempts to figure out what all went...

Episode 186: White Lanterns Have it Easy
This week Blake proves that, when it comes to bringing back the dead, White Lanterns have it easy. Blake manages to resurrect a dead podcast recording so that you can hear the guys talk about the last new Lost content ever (on the season 6 DVD), the upcoming TV season including developments for Smallville and The Walking Dead, the cancellation (and resurrection) of Daredevil, the White Lantern variant covers, the movie Green Lanterns and more! In the picks, Kenny goes with Action Comics #892, Mike digs Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #1, and Blake pimps Science Dog Special #1! Contact us with comments, suggestions, or anything else at BlakeMPetit@gmail.com! IMPORTANT NOTE: Comixtreme.com is undergoing a few technical difficulties. For now, the show is going to be housed at Comixtreme.net -- but our e-mail isn't working either. For now, you can e-mail me at BlakeMPetit@gmail.com, and if you've sent us an e-mail since August 24, you'll need to re-send it. Sorry for the inconvenience. Music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network.
Episode 185: The Unsung Heroes
This week the boys line up another top ten (or seven... or eight...) episode, as they get together to discuss some of their favorite underrated characters from comics, television, movies, video games, and even a book or two without pictures. Which warriors do the guys say just don't get the respect they deserve? And in the picks, Blake selects Superman/Batman #75 and Kenny digs on Booster Gold #35. Contact us with comments, suggestions, or anything else at Showcase@comixtreme.com! Music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network.
Episode 184: Kick-Ass, The Losers, and listener e-mail!
We're going mano-a-Blakeo this week as your valiant host flies solo. But that doesn't mean we're bereft of content! This week Blake gives his thoughts on the new-to-DVD films Kick-Ass and The Losers, talks about a couple of recent events from Wizard World Chicago and the Green Lantern movie, and answers your e-mails! In the picks, Blake doubles up with the surprisingly awesome Life With Archie: The Married Life #1 and the not-at-all-surprisingly awesome Darkwing Duck #3. Contact us with comments, suggestions, or anything else at Showcase@comixtreme.com! Music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network.
At the Movies Episode 19: Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World
It's Blake versus the Critics this week, as 2 in 1 Showcase at the Movies turns its gaze to the film Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World. In this mini-episode, Blake gives his thoughts on the film, and doesn't expect to make any friends in the process. Dissenting opinions are welcome at Showcase@Comixtreme.com!
Episode 183: Doctor Who Postseason Report
The Showcase crew's favorite TV show about a madman in a magic box has wrapped up its latest season, so this week they guys sit down and talk about Matt Smith's first 13 episodes as Doctor Who. The guys discuss the second half of the season, the questions left over at the end of the run, and toss about their theories as to the true identity of the mysterious River Song. In the picks this week, Blake applauds Roger Langridge's return to the art chores of The Muppet Show, Mike finds himself enjoying Time Masters: Vanishing Point #1 and Kenny branches out with Thor #611. Contact us with comments, suggestions, or anything else at Showcase@comixtreme.com! Music provided by the Podshow Podsafe Music Network.

Cheat Sheets
It's less a "Cliffs Notes" and more like a journal kept by a naturalist studying man-eating tigers.
I will be at SPX in North Bethesda, Maryland this weekend! YOU SHOULD COME SAY HI.
HUGE Tracts Of Land
Oh Sven. It's been a while since we've seen you!
Did She Break The Latch?

I love how, through all of this drama, Faye still hasn't bothered to put pants on.
See you tomorrow.
They'll Be A Little Short, Too
Remember when I mentioned a tumblr post I made recommending new music? Well I have another album to add to me "YOU SHOULD BUY THIS IMMEDIATELY" list- Luke Abbott's "Holkham Drones." Absolutely fantastic electronic music, like Apparat or Modeselektor but with more swing and melody. Check it out!
See you tomorrow.
Oh Dear
I really, really hate doing arguments in the comic- it feels like watching my best friends fight. But given Dora's trust issues, this pretty much wrote itself. :\
See you tomorrow.

Aries (3/21-4/19) For Monday, September 6 - You're movin' on up when it comes to the career ladder, and it couldn't be more timely. Keep in mind, however, that 'moving up' doesn't necessarily mean the corner office and a raise (although those things are likely in store). It could also mean more time off, a change to a different office, fewer working hour or being able to work from home, all of which add up to a much higher quality of life. In the end, that's what truly counts.
Taurus (4/20-5/20) For Monday, September 6 - The word 'confidence' comes close to describing you right now, but it's not enough. You're so self-assured that people just assume you've got most of the answers and defer to you in nearly all matters. It's a lucky thing that you've got the goods to back up the attitude. The stars help you shed the last traces of hesitation and take a leap of faith. Your willingness to lay it on the line and leap into a make-or-break decision will reward you handsomely.
Gemini (5/21-6/21) For Monday, September 6 - It's vitally important that you believe in yourself in order to achieve success, especially during times like these. Why now? Because you may be surrounded by those who adore wallowing in negativity or whose 'objective' opinions are actually colored by their own agendas. The stars are drafting a blueprint of your future, and paying attention is of paramount importance, especially when it comes to the details.
Cancer (6/22-7/22) For Monday, September 6 - It's extremely frustrating when you feel like major decisions are in other people's hands, but what you may not realize is that this actually works in your favor right now. If those offers involve unfamiliar terms or tempting extras, you're better off having steadier heads working for you in strange territory. Go ahead and discuss your needs with your representatives frankly, have some faith and wait to see what they come back with.
Leo (7/23-8/22) For Monday, September 6 - Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and smile, smile, smile. In other words, your luck is about to take a spectacular turn for the better, and you can happily put away any lingering problems that have been on your mind for far too long. Before you pack everything in mental bubble wrap and put it away forever, make sure you examine each of these past conundrums and remember the lessons they taught you -- you don't want to have to learn them again!
Virgo (8/23-9/22) For Monday, September 6 - Your passions heat up deliciously and just in time to revive a cool period. However, along with those heightened emotions comes a hair-trigger temper. Remember to keep the heat where it belongs -- raising the temperature of your relationship -- and don't let it rage out of control or leak over into areas where it'll cause a lot of easily avoidable havoc. Try to keep your jealousy in check, and it will keep your love from flaming out.
Libra (9/23-10/22) For Monday, September 6 - Your imagination is one of your richest assets, but it's important that you don't let it spiral out of control, especially when it comes to romantic matters. It's pretty easy to get so caught up in fantasy that you convince yourself it's real. Take some deep breaths and ground yourself in reality before you make any decisions or commit yourself to something that might have many more layers to it than you originally assumed.
Scorpio (10/23-11/21) For Monday, September 6 - The situation is stellar right now, thanks to your own efforts and those of your lucky stars: Work is gratifying, your wallet is full and you're in love (or about to fall). However, the one surefire way to tempt fate is to take things for granted, or to let your ego get out of control (yes, your hard work and efforts had a lot to do with this -- but not everything). Remember to be humble and remain diligent so you'll stay ahead of the game.
Sagittarius (11/22-12/21) For Monday, September 6 - Nix any wallflower tendencies right now, no matter what. You may not be totally at ease in the spotlight, but the spotlight sure loves you, especially during a moment like this. You've been working behind the scenes for far too long, and it's time to step out on center stage and take your bows. You don't have to stay there long -- just give the people who love you a chance to acknowledge how fantastic you are, okay?
Capricorn (12/22-1/19) For Monday, September 6 - A loved one might be grumpier than usual and determined to pick a fight. Don't let yourself be bullied. Just because they're in a bad mood doesn't mean you should have to suffer. Tell them kindly but firmly that they need to deal with their emotions in an appropriate manner. It's time to hold people accountable for their behavior. If you keep getting walked all over, now is the moment to get up and stand up for your rights.
Aquarius (1/20-2/18) For Monday, September 6 - Take the direction you know is best for you, and leave all self-destructive paths behind. In fact, go ahead and erect barriers and 'No Trespassing' signs, if that helps remind you not to tread ways that ultimately proved to be unhealthy for you. Some might accuse you of being 'too good' for your old friends or old ways, and they're right -- you're far too good to waste yourself on behaviors that wreck your potential. Your instincts are wiser than any outside influence.
Pisces (2/19-3/20) For Monday, September 6 - If you haven't learned this romantic lesson yet, the stars are about to make you write it on the chalkboard 100 times now to drill it through your head. It's time to speak up for yourself in relationships and not sublimate your own needs. Aren't you tired of being 'nice' and 'good' to get someone to love you? Wouldn't you rather be your own honest, funny, intelligent self -- and be loved for that? How liberating! Uncomplicate a romance and level with your partner.
